Art Exhibition

Community is an exhibition that brings together local North London artists who believe in the power of giving. Each work has either been lovingly donated or painted especially for the charity exhibition. The exhibition, curated by a volunteer at the Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation, has brought together local artists of all ages and has also secured a donation of celebrity artworks as well. The works depict scenes inspired by the local area, portraits and spaces people feel ‘at home’. Its focus is the community as a space. Also, the emotions that arise when a person is part of community and the unity that has arisen from all these artists coming together.

100% of the profits from the sale of any item goes to The Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation (AWTF). AWTF is a local Highgate charity that was set up by Lindsey Wylie after the death of her only daughter, Channing student Alexandra Wylie. It works with disadvantaged young people and families, helping to provide basic provisions and opportunities that inspire a passion for life. The inspiration for the exhibition came when the charity realised what a wealth of talent was held in the local community - especially in those who are always kind enough to offer help.

'I just looked around us, I took a good look at all the people that want to help, so wonderfully, with the charity and I realised that we had a wealth of creative talent. I thought there must be something we can do with that talent. Something that allows us to showcase the talent that is on our doorstep’, said Tara Griffin, curator of the project. ‘We also have a great location here in Highgate, Lauderdale House. Run by Katherine Ives, Lauderdale House is so welcoming to any new projects and community outreach.’
